U-value is a measure of how effective the glass type is as an insulator.

The lower the U-value, the better the glass is as a heat insulator.

To calculate how much energy you lose through heat transfer through the your windows and doors, follow the steps below.
  1. Work out the difference between the two window U-values. For example: Single Glazed 5.8 - Triple Glazed 1.1 = 4.7 W per m2 K
  2. Multiply that number by the glass area of your home. For example: 4.7 x 60 m2 =  282 W
  3. Work out temperature difference inside and outside your home. For example: Summer 38C – 20C = 18C or Winter 20C - 10C = 10C. Average = 14C
  4. Multiply the temperature difference by the U-value area 282 W x 14C = 3948 W
  5. Divide that number by 1000 to convert it into kilowatts per hour 3948 W / 1000 = 3.948kWh
  6. Multiply that by 365 to get your annual kWh. 3.948 kWh x 365 = 1,441 kWh
  7. EnviroSafe Double and Triple Glazing and CycloneSafe Laminated Glazing are competitively priced, with most projects able to break-even in under 5 years.
